Message from Commodore Stephanie Gaff

Happy December everyone. We've made it through Thanksgiving, although our tables may have been a little emptier this year.

As you may have noticed, there was no Children's Christmas Party scheduled this year. It just was not safe enough to put on such an event without the possibility of spreading anytype of illness.

This year's Christmas Meeting on December 11th is also going to be different this year. Unfortunately, we cannot safely do a pitch-in dinner; Erni, PC Jerry, and Rick have offered their services to put on a Steak and/or Cake dinner for $15.00 per person. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Please contact Erni or PC Jerry to reserve your spot. We are only limited to 40 dinners and you don't want to miss out on such a delicious dinner. Come by and spend those remaining Chits you have on your card (deadline for Chits is January 31st.)

Remember, Governor Hogan has implemented new restrictions in the past couple of weeks. We are only allowed to operate at 50% capacity (which is 40 guests), no congregating around the bar or standing with a drink. Drinks and food are to be consumed while seated, and masks are to be worn at all times except when eating/drinking. The bar stools are marked for social distancing, as well are the tables. Please do not move tables together or remove the coverings from the bar stools. If utilizing the pool table or shuffleboard tables, you must have a mask on at all times. Finally, restaurants/bars are to close at 10pm. Since we operate on a County issued liquor license, this means we cannot sell alcohol beyond 9:45pm.

Finally, I want to wish everyone a happy, safe, and healthy holiday season.

Message from Vice Com  Wayne Orem

Hello all. I hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Hopefully we have this COVID-19 situation in the rearview soon! That being said, let's remember to keep our guard up and all get through this safely. We still need to follow the Maryland guidelines to protect ourselves, club members, and the club itself.
We are also at that time of the year where those of you needing hours is nearing an end. December 15TH is the last day to get your hours. Anyone needing hours can contact me . We still have things to be done. One of which, we need someone to do a good cleaning in the basement. To date no one has stepped up to handle that needed project.
Let's all work together to keep the club a safe place to enjoy. I wish everyone a happy healthy holiday season.

Message from Rear Com Scarlett Corso

Thank you to everyone who came out on 11/07 to the work party to help with winterizing the clubhouse and piers. We've completed placing the ice eaters, as you may have seen. We delayed winterizing the pump out and the pier lines so that they could be used through the date of the Middle River Christmas Boat Parade. Terry Edgell has graciously agreed to winterize the dock water lines within the next week. Anyone who is still looking for work hours and can be available to help with winterizing the lines, please contact me ASAP.

Additionally, if you are moving slips for the winter season, please ensure that I am aware of it and that you coordinate with whoever's slip you are temporarily inhabiting.

Above all, I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season!

Message from Fleet Capt Jerry Selig

I would like to thank the membership for their support in electing me as Fleet Captain for the 2020-21 boating year. I am looking forward to serving in this capacity as it is the one position I did not serve in at Red Eye. Hopefully the openings will be back in play next season and I can do my due diligence fetching beers for the Officers at them. With the resurgence of Covid I am sure there will be many obstacles in the way of having land cruises both coming and going. We will see what we can do as time goes on. Even though it is a little early to talk about a Club cruise destination for a weekend next season I am certainly open to suggestions and would love to get a group of us together for a weekend away. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Message from Princess Katie Gaff

Not much to report on my part. Life has had me quarantined at home. I haven't seen my friends in a while. Since most Balls have been cancelled, I haven't been able to see my fellow Princesses. Although, we have been in contact through text messages.

I have had my Learner's Permit since August and have been practicing with my parents in my manual transmission Jeep Wrangler, but I just started Driver's Education Classes on November 23rd. I hope to complete the course (and pass) this Friday, December 4th. I still have 6 hours to complete with Driver's Ed and then I just need to wait until May to become an officially licensed driver. Do you think Red Eye will give their Princess her own parking spot?

Virtual learning hasn't been going great. The amount of work that is being piled on top of us each day is more work than we would receive in a week. I'm making my way through it, but I feel like I'm attached to the computer all the time.

I miss seeing people and our interactions. I miss Marching Band and playing my Trumpet. Mom keeps the house pretty well stocked, so I barely leave the house. However, we did make a special trip to Hersheypark this past weekend with my friend, Emily.

I cannot wait until all of us are together again. In the meantime have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

Message from Chaplain
WE ARE IN NEED OF A CHAPLAIN. IF INTERESTED, PLEASE CONTACT THE COMMODORE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Lord, in a season when every heart should be happy and light, many of us are struggling with the heaviness of life-burdens that steal the joy right out of our Christmas stockings. Crazy weather disasters strike at unsuspecting areas, ravaging peaceful homes and interrupting the lives of unsuspecting residents. Tragedy arrives as innocent victims suffer, and an inner voice whispers, "Be afraid!" We need your peace, Jesus.

Lord, we still carol the wonderful message, huddled beneath winter caps on snow-covered porches, or from churches, led by enthusiastic musicians or choir members. Yet we confess that our hearts are too often filled with wonder of a different kind: wondering when the bills will be paid, when the terror will stop, when rest will come. Will it ever? Is the message still true?

In a world where worry, not peace, prevails, stir up that good news again. This Christmas, make it real in our hearts. Never have we needed Your joy and peace more than now. Thank You for the gift of Jesus, our Immanuel, the Word made flesh. Forgive us for forgetting-that Your love never changes, never fades, and that You never abandon the purpose for which You came: to save us from our sinful condition, and to give us life eternal, the joy of relationship with a holy God. Your birth-and Your death-sealed Your promise to us forever.

Lord, don't let us miss You this Christmas season. Help us to simplify our activities and traditions so we can focus our celebration on Your birth. Thank You for being the Prince of Peace, and I ask You for that supernatural peace to reign in our hearts. Thank You for the simple but life-changing message of Your love for us

Amen.
